Frequently Asked Questions

What information should I provide for product selection?

Please provide the application, system rated voltage and frequency, continuous load current, short-circuit level, insulation level or BIL, and the required operating duty. Also include indoor or outdoor installation, altitude, ambient temperature, pollution level, control voltage, communication requirements, quantity, destination market and applicable standard. A single-line diagram, existing nameplate or project specification will make the review more accurate.

How do I choose between a recloser, circuit breaker, load break switch, disconnector and fuse?

A recloser is generally used for automatic fault interruption and service restoration on distribution feeders. A circuit breaker provides repeated fault interruption, a load break switch is intended for rated-load switching within its specified capability, a disconnector provides an isolation point, and a fuse provides single-operation overcurrent protection. The final choice must be based on load current, fault level, protection coordination, switching frequency, installation method and operating philosophy.

Which ratings and standards must be confirmed before ordering?

Confirm the voltage class, frequency, rated current, short-circuit breaking and making duties, insulation level, creepage distance, mechanical or electrical endurance, enclosure protection, control supply and auxiliary contacts. The applicable IEC, IEEE, ANSI, GB or project-specific requirement should be stated in the inquiry. The approved data sheet and drawing, rather than only a general product family name, define the final supply.

Can Pomanique help replace existing equipment or confirm interchangeability?

Yes, a technical comparison can be made when sufficient information is available. Please send the existing model and nameplate, general arrangement and mounting dimensions, terminal interfaces, wiring diagram, interlocks, operating mechanism and electrical ratings. Similar voltage and current ratings do not by themselves confirm mechanical or electrical interchangeability, so approval is required before replacement.

How are surge arresters and composite insulators selected?

Selection should consider the system grounding method, maximum continuous operating voltage, temporary overvoltage, required protective level, system insulation level, altitude, pollution severity and creepage distance. Mechanical loading, housing material and installation orientation also matter for outdoor equipment. Provide the system and site data so insulation coordination can be reviewed as a complete set.

Are OEM, ODM and customized configurations available?

Customization can be evaluated according to technical feasibility, validation requirements and order quantity. Typical requests include labels and packaging, terminal arrangements, mounting dimensions, control voltages, transformer ratios, accessories, communication functions and project documentation. Customized production should begin only after the technical specification and approved drawings are confirmed by both parties.

What technical documents and certificates can be supplied?

Available documents may include product catalogs, technical data sheets, general arrangement drawings, wiring diagrams, installation and operation instructions, packing lists and applicable routine test records. Declarations, certificates, type-test documents or project-specific submittals depend on the selected product and market. List every required document during the inquiry so availability, language and delivery stage can be confirmed in the quotation.

How are inspection and testing requirements confirmed?

The inspection and test scope is confirmed against the approved technical data and applicable standard before production. Depending on the product, records may cover visual and dimensional checks, nameplate and accessory verification, mechanical operation and applicable electrical routine tests. If an inspection and test plan, factory acceptance test, witness point or third-party inspection is required, state it before ordering because it may affect cost and lead time.

What should I check when the equipment arrives, and how should it be stored?

Check the packaging for impact, moisture or deformation before unpacking, then verify the model, nameplate, quantity, accessories and documents against the packing list. Record any damage with clear photos and notify the supplier before installation. Keep equipment in its original packaging in a dry, ventilated location without condensation, conductive dust or corrosive gas, and follow the product manual for lifting, orientation and storage limits.

Who should install and commission medium-voltage equipment?

Installation, testing, energization and maintenance must be performed by qualified electrical personnel familiar with medium-voltage systems and local regulations. Before work, isolate all energy sources, verify absence of voltage, apply grounding, lockout and tagout, and use the required personal protective equipment. Follow the approved drawings and product instructions, and do not energize equipment that is damaged, contaminated or incorrectly rated.

How often should medium-voltage equipment be inspected and maintained?

There is no single interval suitable for every installation. The maintenance plan should follow the product manual and consider operating cycles, fault interruptions, load, age, dust, humidity, pollution, temperature and site criticality. Keep inspection records and check items such as cleanliness, connections, insulation condition, operating mechanism, contact wear, control circuits and batteries where applicable; inspect earlier after a fault operation or abnormal condition.

What information should I provide when reporting a fault or technical issue?

Send the product model and serial number, a clear nameplate photo, purchase or project reference, installation date and current system conditions. Describe the operating sequence, symptoms, alarms, relay event records or settings, measurements, photos or video and any action already taken. Make the installation safe first and do not repeatedly operate or dismantle the product unless instructed by qualified personnel.

How can I order spare parts or request replacement equipment?

Provide the original product model, serial number, manufacturing date if shown, nameplate, photos and the required part description or drawing reference. Pomanique will review availability and compatibility with the installed version. Do not substitute coils, contacts, interrupters, relays, control boards or other safety-related parts solely on appearance or nominal voltage.

How are quotations, minimum order quantities and lead times determined?

A complete inquiry should include the product type, ratings, configuration, quantity, destination, preferred Incoterm, required documents, inspection requirements and certifications. Minimum order quantity and lead time depend on whether the item is standard or customized, material availability, testing scope and shipping method. The commercial quotation and order confirmation provide the final scope, price and schedule.

What after-sales and site support can Pomanique provide?

Support can include pre-sales selection review, document clarification, remote troubleshooting, spare-parts or replacement assessment, and evaluation of training or site-service requirements. Availability depends on product, project location, site conditions and requested schedule. Warranty terms, response scope and any on-site service should be confirmed in the contract or order documents; send the equipment list and service request as early as possible.
